What is a Certificate of Compliance?

In South Africa, a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) is a legal document issued by a registered electrician confirming that an electrical installation meets the requirements of SANS 10142-1. A CoC is required for all new electrical installations, any addition or alteration to an existing installation, and on the sale of a property. CoCs are valid for two years from the date of issue.
